The Snipe Hunt

The Snipe Hunt

When I was eleven years old my two older brothers talked my best friend and I into going snipe hunting.
They sent us into the woods in the dark with Wal-Mart sacks. They told us to sit down and rattle the bags and when we heard chirping sounds we were to let them fly in and shut the bag real fast....

We were determined to come back with a bag full!
After about 45 minutes before we realized the snipes just weren't out and maybe it wasn't quite snipe season yet. When we got back to the house they of course laughed and laughed, we will never forget our first and last snipe hunt. That's brothers for you.

The definition of snipe hunt: people making fun of credulous newcomers by giving them an impossible or imaginary task.
Well, unlike snipe hunting God has given us a task to complete and it's not impossible or imaginary.

I know you've heard this before but God absolutely has a plan for your life. It's not going to be laid out and in plain sight, we have to seek God to find out what he has for us.
He has a very unique plan for you and me. You are not here by chance or mistake, you're here for a purpose. Your personality, your wonderful attributes, your individuality was perfectly given only to you by God for a reason.
Jeremiah 29: 12-13 tells us how to begin.
Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.  13 You will look for Me and find Me, when you look for Me with all your heart.
Key words there for are “all your heart.”

God is most likely going to call you to do something totally out of your comfort zone, seek Him and trust Him.
The difference in snipe hunting and searching your heart for what Gods plan for your life is the wonderful fact that you will not walk home with an empty Wal-Mart sack.
You will instead walk away with a closer connection to God, a feeling of empowerment through God, and a heart that burns to fulfill the job that you are chosen to do.
